Whether you are new to painting or already painting, this class is open to all.

If you are a beginner you will learn different painting techniques, terminology, and color theory through short exercises and demonstrations. You will also have plenty of time to paint a subject of your choice.

In this class, you will:

• Learn basic art concepts such as: value, composition, balance, perspective, form
• Get a better understanding of painting materials and supplies
• Explore different types of marks and painting styles
• Be introduced to color theory and mixing paint

Non-beginner painters can learn to hone their skills and develop their own personal style. You are welcome to bring paintings already in process whether you just want a supportive space to paint or need help.

It is strongly recommended that you have basic drawing skills or have taken a drawing class prior to painting, but it is not required.

Materials List:

Beginner students will be supplied with canvas, brushes and paint for the first class. A supply list will be discussed and provided at first class.

New students will have the option to purchase ALL their own supplies or select the add on fee of $40 and Detati Art will provide supplies each class.This option is good for those who are not sure if they will continue painting, are just exploring painting and don’t want the expense of supplies they may not use, or those who have limited budgets but want to start painting.

Continuing or students with their own painting supplies should bring to the first class. If you need supplies and want to purchase them from Detati Art, let us know.
